Local Know-How

Moving in Tustin: Old Town, Tustin Ranch and Tustin Legacy

Tustin has three very different kinds of neighborhood. Old Town is the historic center, with buildings from the 1880s along Main Street and El Camino Real and a protected historic district. Tustin Ranch is an Irvine Company planned community around the Tustin Ranch Golf Course in the foothills. Tustin Legacy is a 1,600-acre community on the former Marine Corps Air Station Tustin, still being built, with more than 2,000 homes finished in phases since 2006.

On streets in Tustin's permit parking program, parking is restricted from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. every day except by permit, and large commercial trucks can't get permits. So plan the move so a truck isn't left on a permit street overnight. City rules also expect garages and driveways to be used for parking.

Not every "Tustin" address is in the City of Tustin: North Tustin is a separate, unincorporated community (ZIP 92705 and part of 92780), so its rules come from the County of Orange. From Irvine City Hall, central Tustin is about 6 miles by Jamboree Road and I-5.

Before your Tustin move

  • On a permit-parking street, plan the move so a truck isn't left there between 2 and 6 a.m.
  • Check whether your address is in the City of Tustin or unincorporated North Tustin.
  • In Tustin Ranch or Tustin Legacy, check your HOA's move-in rules and gate access.
  • Clear the garage and driveway for the crew: the city expects them used for parking.

FAQs

Moving in Tustin: FAQ

How much do movers cost in Tustin?

Local hourly starting rates are $129 for a small move (2 movers, 1 truck), $164 for a medium move and $199 for a large move. Your quote confirms minimums, travel and materials for your Tustin move.

Is North Tustin part of Tustin or Santa Ana?

Neither: North Tustin is an unincorporated community of the County of Orange, with no city government. It uses ZIP 92705 and part of 92780, which is why many North Tustin homes have a "Tustin" mailing address.

Can a moving truck park overnight on a Tustin street?

Not on a permit-parking street: parking there is restricted from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. every day except by permit, and large commercial trucks can't get permits. Tell us if you're on a permit street and we plan loading so the truck isn't left there overnight.

Do you move people to Tustin from elsewhere in California?

Yes. Long-distance moves within California, such as from the Bay Area, go on a truck dedicated to your shipment, with a project-based quote. Share your origin, move date and inventory and we prepare it. Coming from another state? Contact us and we may be able to recommend trusted long-distance moving partners.

Is a move between Tustin and Irvine a local move?
